The bachelor's degree in computer science, with a subject share of 50%, allows you to combine it with another 50% degree and is usually completed after six semesters. Admission is granted as part of an entrance examination. There is the possibility of choosing the teaching post option with an orientation of the course towards a later Master of Education, which leads to a teaching post at grammar schools. This choice enables you to develop teaching-related skills as early as your bachelor's degree. Details can be found in the course plans. Note that the language of instruction is German.
After successfully completing the bachelor's degree, students are awarded the academic degree corresponding to their first major. Please note that the bachelor's degree with a subject share of 50% does not generally entitle you to continue studying in the master's degree in Data and Computer Science. For the bachelor's degree in Computer Science with a subject share of 50%, there is also the possibility of choosing the teaching option with a focus on a later Master of Education, which leads to teaching at grammar schools, in combination with another 50% degree. This means that teaching-related skills must already be developed in the bachelor's degree. The specific modules for this comprise a total of 20 CP in the context of general competencies, which are credited across subjects separately.
The structure of the course without the option to become a teacher includes specialist studies in computer science with 74 CP and 10 CP in general competencies. This must be supplemented by the second main subject with 74 credits and a further 10 credits in general skills. The credits for the bachelor thesis in the first main subject are not included in the total for the third year of study and the subject part. The individual modules in the course can be swapped over in terms of time, provided this does not disrupt the sequence of the courses. If a mathematics course that corresponds to the Mathematical Basics module was successfully completed in the second major, it is recommended to choose a module from the elective area of Computer Science of the 100% Bachelor's degree in Computer Science totaling 8 CP.
